About Jessica Stephenson, PHR, SHRM-CP
Jessica Stephenson initially joined ExactHire in January 2010 as the Director of Client Services, but later took on the role of Vice President of Marketing & Talent. Jessica oversees the marketing department, which includes activities such as content strategy, paid digital advertising, brand management and social media presence for our organization. She is also responsible for ExactHire's recruiting, employee onboarding and employee development activities.
Prior to joining ExactHire, Jessica spent over seven years with the CIK Enterprises family of companies (now known as PERQ) in Indianapolis, IN. During her tenure she held a variety of different roles within the Tri-Auto Enterprises division such as Sales Consultant, Regional Account Director, Marketing & Recruiting Director, Director of Client Services, and in the parent company (CIK Enterprises) as Talent Services (HR) Director.
Because Jessica experienced CIK’s steep growth curve going from only six employees to over ninety in a period of just five years, she has first-hand knowledge of how the integration of affordable and relevant technology can play a crucial role in allowing a small- to mid-sized business to grow successfully while keeping future scalability in mind.
Jessica holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification, a SHRM-CP certification, and is active in the local IndySHRM chapter, currently serving on the Board of Directors and as chairperson for the Communications Committee. She is also a member of the national organization of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management), and is a member of the marketing committee at her local church.
Jessica enjoys rooting for the Butler Bulldogs in Indianapolis and spending time with her family and friends. She graduated Cum Laude from Butler University with a B.S. in Marketing and a minor in Spanish.

How often have you progressed through the hiring process and ultimately realized that your final two candidates were almost evenly matched–one just slightly nudged out the other for the gold medal employment offer? When you think about where you spend the bulk of your time in the employee recruiting process, is a big chunk reserved for a certain type of position? If so, this role is probably an evergreen job. Just as an evergreen tree appears green and alive all year long, evergreen positions require a constant flow […]
One of the less glamorous tasks in recruiting and human resources is the responsibility to decline a job candidate when he isn’t the best individual for a role. While it’s not easy or fun, it can and should be done with efficiency, professionalism and respect. After all, if you were in the candidate’s shoes, you’d […]
There’s no denying the appeal of video. When I’m doing research for a home project, planning a purchase or trying to teach myself how to play a new board game, I prefer to watch an engaging video rather than read through text or scan images. Not surprisingly, many job seekers have the same preference as […]
No one conquered Rome in one day, and it is unlikely that you’ll become a recruiting ninja overnight. Successful recruiting results from the seemingly little, incremental, daily routines that multiply and result in significant skill mastery over time. I recently read Atomic Habits by James Clear and am enthralled with his statement: “You do not […]
